After spending seven months creating Villa Balthazar we are now living our dream. Felix’s many years in the hotel & restaurant business and Petra’s love for people, hosting and interior design are all fundamental pieces in our adventure. Our shared ambition took us to Búzios and here we now growing our family, both kids and businesses together with our amazing crew.
We – Felix, Petra and our daughter Chloe and son Leon and small dog Bella – are inviting you to become a part of our dream. We welcome you to come and stay in our home. Imagine that you are borrowing a house from a dear friend, but the owner is not present. You feel like at home, but you do not have to socialize. That’s the feeling we wish to pass on to our guests. Freedom, peace and harmony combined in a familiar way.
Thanks to the fact that Villa Balthazar is our home and our everyday life, we will be around and could probably be found digging in the garden, reading a book, playing with our kids, having dinner with friends, cooking in the kitchen or any other mundane chore. Our presence means that you always have someone to ask for Búzios’ best restaurants, scenic walks or a good coffee. Beautiful accommodations with wonderful hosts
We spent a New Year's trip at Villa Balthazar a while back and had such a wonderful experience — highly, highly recommended.
Location: Across the road from the sea and a beautiful beach, a few minutes walk into town, perfect location. So much to do and see in town when it comes to restaurants, shopping, bars, clubs, boat excursions, etc.
Accommodation: Lovely, clean and quiet rooms surrounding a beautiful courtyard with a pool off to the side.
Food: The breakfasts are INCREDIBLE, there is no other way to put it. Everything is locally grown/sourced (I believe some from the hosts' own garden) and homemade that morning, right down to the yoghurt! I would suggest skimping on dinner to make room — you will not be underfed!
Hosts: Petra and Felix are the best part — ask them anything, they are always happy to help and give you recommendations. Very kind and accommodating people with adorable, well-behaved children 🙂

Fantastic setting and service
We as a family have been several times to stay at Villa Balthazar whilst staying in Buzios. The place is perfectly situated with a short walk to the busy streets of Rua das Pedras with all its shops and restaurants.
The place is unique because of its homely feeling and friendly owners Petra and Felix. It resembles a Boutique hotel, nicely decorated and just the right size. Being there as a family worked perfectly as it has a nice pool and court-yard with open space. This together with things you can borrow for a day at the beach makes it ideal when travelling with kids.
One of the highlights is the breakfast. As they have their own sourdough bakery you will enjoy excellent bread together with all the extras. The bakery in it self is worth an extra stop (just a mile away) when in Buzios.
So if you are looking for a high quality place to stay with that little bit of "extra" then you should certainly come here.
